Southern Maryland Soapbox Derby

 

Please  be  advised  that  the  Third District Optimist Club  will  be  holding  the  Annual  Southern Maryland Soap Box Derby Race on Patuxent Boulevard, between Placid Hill Road and the intersection of Mill Cove Road/Myrtle Point Road,  located  in  the  8th Election District,  on Saturday,  June  5,  2010  (Rain Date: Sunday, June 6, 2010), between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.   Click here for details.

Flag Day

 

The Board of County Commissioners for St. Mary’s County and the Leonardtown Commissioners will co-sponsor Flag Day 2010 festivities on Monday, June 14, 2010, on the Governmental Center Lawn in Leonardtown.  In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in Leonard Hall Recreation Center, adjacent to the Governmental Center.   Click here for details.

Land Preservation Applications

 

To be considered for the next round of financing through the Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation, landowners in St. Mary's County must apply by June 30. If approved, the state will pay the owner for the easement. Due to limited funds, no applications will be accepted in 2011. Call 301-475-4200, ext. 1402, for more information or an application.

NuStar Open House

 

The NuStar Piney Point Terminal is hosting an open house for Piney Point residents on Friday, June 4th, from 11 am to 2 pm.  If you are interested, go to 17877 Piney Point Road and proceed through the 1st set of gates.  You will be directed where to park, abd bus tours will depart and return every 30 minutes.  Refreshments will be served.  For more information, call the Community Call Line at 301-994,1200 or RSVP to Melissa McNeal at 301-994-0213 (Melissa.mcneal@nustarenergy.com).
